CLS can’t be unlocked without R2 at 7* and R2-D2 requires a completely separate set of characters to unlock at 7*. Technically, any five Empire toons at 7* could get through R2’s event with the right RNG, but there are a set of toons that work much better than others: Palp-L, Vader, Thrawn, TFP, and Tarkin.
You have to use a cls squad to take out vader then hope your tm train can out tm palp/mara or use a jkr squad and get your gmy to spread tenacity asap. If you don't go before mara you are in trouble. If you are taking a full squad in versus a lone Malak all you really need is healing immunity. Jka and Kylo both have it on their basics. Jango or any of the shocking sith are also good options. Edit: special shout out to zDooku, who could probably beat him 1v1 if modded for protection/potency instead of crit.

HH30k • 3 yr. ago. Nest's trick is that every time she gets hit, she builds up purple protection which disappears on her turn. So you need to have a big a hit ready to go. Ideally with an empire team, you'd get some dots up with vader, stun her with palp to prevent her from counter attacking. Then after she takes her turn, culling blade her down.
